Kota Bahru Health Program
Made up of mainly elderly believers, the Kota Bahru SDA church is a
warmly and welcoming church. Despite only a third of its members being
young adults and youths, this church is an energetic one and a
pleasure to worship in. Planted in the midst of a Muslim dominated
state capital, Kota Bahru church thrives to be an icon in the
community through acts of kindness and cheerfulness amongst members.

The 2-day Health Program took off on Saturday during Sabbath school
with a firm outline of the Mission’s vision regarding health and
evangelism, “Tell the World, Every CHURCH a Community Health Centre”.
Mrs Jane Yap (Health Director-PEM) delivered the goal of seeing all
members come together and make Jesus Christ relevant in the community.
She highlighted that through simple yet significant programs such as
Charobix, health screening, cooking demos and hydrotherapy the church
can penetrate non-Christian territories where witnessing is not
permitted.

At 14:00Hours, after a healthy lunch the ACC team conducted health
screening for church members, and a notable four non-members. The
screening included full body appraisal and blood pressure check. An
hour long interpretation of results followed thereafter before
entering a 30min health lecture. To culminate the activities for the
day, Rose and Osward conducted a 3-menu cooking demo. These simple
breakfast menus were greeted with excitement and approval. It was
indeed inspiring to see majority of the church members’ patiently
follow through all the programs till evening-fall.

Early Sunday morning, as all roads led to the town centre for the 1st
working day of the week, our enthused members found their way to Jalan
Hamzah for a morning Charobix session. At 8:30am sharp the Charobix
rhythm pierced the air and everyone’s limbs were in motion. It took
only 45min to get the people sweating, and the zest was encouraging.
At the end of the exercise, the young people were gathered and
encouraged to start regular Charobix to create a pool of non-Christian
friends to whom the church can reach out to with God’s love. God works
in ways we can not comprehend. This health program could be the
gateway for lost souls to find their way to Christ.
