2nd PEM Health Retreat Held at Cameron Highlands
- By Jane Yap

“The touch of faith” was the theme of the 2nd PEM Health retreat which was held on 6 – 8 February at the majestic Cameron highlands resort. About 28 individuals (including children) attended the said spiritual gathering, 20 of whom were Health leaders of each respective local church of Peninsular Malaysia Mission.

The weekend kicked off with spiritual messages from Pastor Gration Perera, SAUM Health Ministries Director & Mrs. Jane Yap, PEM Health Director. On Sabbath afternoon, the participants had a chance to listen to each others’ reports – which was a truly inspiring experience, especially to those who are contemplating of starting a health ministry program in their churches.

The highlight of the event was the consecration ceremony where the written plans of each leader were put in the middle of a circle and was prayed over by Pastor Perera, Elders Allan Yap & Thomas Chin.

Not forgetting to mention, three health leaders received an award from PEM in recognizing their valuable work in the Health ministry, namely; Elder Marcia Rajakumar from PJ English church, Mrs. Florence Devany from Klang Indian company & Pastor Jacob John from Kuala Selangor company (receiving the award on behalf of him is Mr. Tony, his assistant health leader). Their dedication to the work served as an inspiration to everyone present.

On Sunday, half of the group had an opportunity to visit the Boh Tea Plantation while the other half visited an organic farm where they had a glimpse of how organic planting is done.

As one participant puts it, “this is an amazing way of reconnecting with God and energizing myself spiritually before I start my ministry.”

Indeed it was an remarkable spiritual experience amidst the nature of Cameron Highlands. God be praised!
