First Community Health Expo Held at Bercham Ipoh
“Your community is lucky to have the presence of the Adventist
Health bringing you this preventive message of health,” so were the
words of Dr. Choong, a Cardiologist in Fatimah Hospital Ipoh during
the opening ceremony of the said event on 12 October 2009.

A group of 7 Health Volunteers from Kuala Lumpur headed by Ms
Jane Yap, Adventist Community Health Director, together with 20
local volunteers from Ipoh – headed by Mr. & Mrs. Liew who own the
Living Spring Wellness Centre, gathered at the Basketball court of
Bercham community in order to offer free health services to the
people.
The event was attended by 86 community folks who availed free
health lecture by Dr. Choong on Prevention of Heart Disease, free
health screening – BMI, Blood Pressure, Glucose check, Step Test, &
health counselling. Different health booths were also made available
for the public such as anti-smoking booth, health exhibits and
health food booth.
In the afternoon, the public went through a series of health
lectures and demonstrations such as healthy cooking, the use of
water as treatment (hydrotherapy) and the famous CHAROBIX exercise.
It was a well-organized event and kudos to all the Ipoh Adventist
Health volunteers – everything worked out with satisfying results.
Praise God indeed!
