ACC-PJ Cooking Class held on 25 October 2009
Most people nowadays skip breakfast due to busy schedule and lack
of ideas on easy & fast menus. On 25 October 2009, ACC-PJ hosted 22
guests who attended the cooking class on breakfast menus dubbed “Is
this what you call Breakfast?”
Four recipes were taught during the session, including sweet potato
pancake, vegetarian pau, baked oat dessert, and power fruit drink.
Most people confessed that they do not like eating oats, but when
they were shown a new way of making oats a delight; they all enjoyed
the baked oats available for tasting. The sweet potato pancake was
also favored by most of the guests. It contained only plain flour,
sweet potatoes, soy milk and spices.
The vegetarian pau was the highlight of the event. Many were amused
and got the chance to put their hands on the dough to make their own
pau too. At the end of the demo, some also took home the pau to
enjoy with their loved ones. Apart from the four recipes
demonstrated guests also shared other recipes with one another.
Indeed it was a two way scenario.
The simple ideas shared during the cooling classes emphasized a well
balanced breakfast that included whole grains like rolled oats and
complex carbohydrates rich foods like sweet potatoes. Breakfast, as
majority of the guest there present agreed, is the most important
meal that supplies the body and brain with fuel to endure the first
hours of the day.
After knowing simple menus our dear guests promised to start eating
their breakfast. It was a very successful event; we hope to see more
people attending our cooking classes in future to share with
everyone the basic ways of living a healthy life.
