“Saying No to Addictions: Drug, Alcohol & Smoking” in Secondary School

31 March 2010, Ipoh – An outreach event in support of the “No Smoking” program of the government was held in a Boys’ School in Ipoh called “Sam Tet Chinese School”. All form 4 students were the recipient of a 2-hour program conducted by the Adventist Community Health Centre (ACC) which included a lecture by Jane Yap on “Saying No to Negative Peer Pressure,” a DVD showing on “Teenagers and Smoking,” a live exhibit of effects of smoking and most importantly, a testimony of a young man by the name of David Raja, a former smoker-turned Missionary-for-God person who delivered his honest testimony how he was formerly hooked on smoking and drugs through the urgings of his friends, and how dangerous it is to continue living that way. He emphasized that it is better not to start anything and focus on becoming a better person for God, for one’s family and for society. The students were listening attentively to David’s testimony.

All for the glory of God!
